Renseignés sur le patrimoine numérique de la famille, les assaillants ont exigé les identifiants du wallet sous menace explicite de mutilation. La mère a fini par céder et un transfert de 700 000 € en cryptomonnaies a été exécuté depuis le domicile. Les braqueurs ont pris la fuite vers 12h30 après l'intervention d'un voisin, au volant d'un véhicule pris à la famille et retrouvé abandonné à Brest le soir même. Le père, entrepreneur dans les cryptomonnaies, est ligoté à une chaise avec des serflex, battu et menacé de mutilation. Les ravisseurs enlèvent la mère et l'enfant de 11 ans et exigent 400 000 $ (≈ 339 000 €) en cryptomonnaies. Ils connaissaient le montant exact du portefeuille du père, orientant l'enquête vers une fuite d'information. 10 000 € en espèces, des bijoux, des lingots d'argent et un fusil de chasse sont également dérobés. Le GIGN localise et libère les victimes saines et sauves mardi 14 avril vers 6h dans une chambre d'hôtel à Boissy-Saint-Léger (Val-de-Marne), après environ 20 heures de détention.
